How Paye AI works

Paye AI is an independent New Zealand take-home pay calculator — built to be simple, fast, and honest about where every number comes from.

What it is

A free tool that shows your real take-home pay after PAYE, ACC, KiwiSaver and student loan, plus where your income sits among New Zealanders. It is independent — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Inland Revenue or the New Zealand Government.

How we calculate your pay

Every figure is computed in your browser from the official 2026/27 settings — nothing about your income is sent to a server or stored. We apply, in order:

• PAYE income tax across the IRD brackets.
• The ACC earner levy, up to the maximum liable income.
• Your KiwiSaver contribution and any student loan repayment.
• The Independent Earner Tax Credit where you qualify.

Where our figures come from

• Tax, ACC, student loan, KiwiSaver and IETC settings — Inland Revenue (2026/27).
• Income distribution / percentiles — IRD individual income statistics.

Keeping it accurate

Figures are estimates, checked against the official sources and stamped with a "last updated" date (currently 2026-06-17). We refresh them at each annual rate change. Spotted something off? Email hello@payeai.co.nz and we'll review it.
